What is holistic massage?
Holistic massage aims to meet the needs of the whole person: your body, mind, spirit and energy. My work is client centred, so your treatment won’t be a set routine - it will be tailored to your unique needs on the day.
There is a common belief that you need to ‘push through’ pain for a massage to be effective. However, forcing through resistance only causes muscles to flinch and tighten further. In fact, many persistent aches and long-standing injuries are actively held in place by a stressed nervous system keeping the muscles braced. Slow, intentional work calms the nervous system first, helping your body release its defensive posture and remember how to rest in its natural alignment. This allows us to access deeper layers of chronic tension safely and effectively.
I use a variety of techniques to relax and relieve tension in the body, including deep tissue and trigger point release, Swedish massage, mobilisations and stretches, assisted breathing, rocking and tapping, fascia release, abdominal work, and lymphatic drainage. I also draw on my training in Thai Oil Massage.
Hi, I’m Lou
I trained at the Bristol College of Massage and Bodywork, gaining a Holistic Massage MTI Level 4 diploma.
Navigating my own long-term health conditions led me to embrace bodywork, movement, breath, sloooowing down and allowing space to even be able to listen to my body. I believe that quiet, intentional rest is fundamental to activating the body’s innate capacity for both physical and emotional healing.
Practicing massage and bodywork provides a meaningful shift in my own life, working in a grounded, slower-paced space away from the chaos and noise. I love supporting people in connecting with their bodies and holding a safe space where you can drop your guard and access your innate potential to heal. It is a genuinely mutual experience where this quiet, restorative environment benefits us both.
I look forward to welcoming you into the space and supporting your journey with rest and balance :)
